We believe the Gospel is bigger than what happens inside our walls. We're here to shape Surprise, Arizona one life, one family, one neighborhood at a time. And Surprise is just the beginning. City Shapers shape their city, then their state, and maybe even the world.

We Refuse to Settle
We won't settle for shallow faith, safe ministry, or a church that plays it small. We're chasing something real, because people deserve more than routine religion.

We Believe in Restoration
We believe every person can be restored back to Jesus, no matter how far they've wandered, no matter what they've been through. Restoration isn't just something we hope for. It's something we build our ministries around.
About Jesus
We believe Jesus is the only way to heaven. No one comes to the Father except through Him. God created people in His image, but through Adam’s sin all people are separated from God and in need of a Savior. Salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross for our sins. He physically rose from the dead on the third day, defeating sin and death. He will return personally and visibly to gather His church, at a time known only to the Father.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three co-equal, co-eternal Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

About the holy spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit lives in every believer, empowering us to live for Christ. The gifts of the Spirit are active today and are to be used in an orderly way to build up the church.

About the bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is true, trustworthy, and our final authority for faith and life.

About the church
We believe the church is the body of Christ, made up of all believers, called to worship, grow together, and make disciples. We practice water baptism by immersion as a public declaration of faith, and communion as a remembrance of Christ’s death until He returns.

About salvation
Salvation is a gift from God to all people. Men and women can never make up for their sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can a person be saved from sin’s penalty. When God has begun a saving working in the heart of any person, He gives assurance in His Word that He will continue performing it until the day of its completion.

The Gathering doesn’t do church membership in the traditional way. We believe that if you call The Gathering your “church home,” that makes you a “member.” We believe a church is a community of dynamic relationships, where we grow, serve, and give of ourselves to others. If that’s you and you’re doing that here with us, then that makes you a “member” of The Gathering! Welcome to the family!

About baptism
Baptism shows others that a person has made a personal decision to follow Jesus Christ. It represents that a person has accepted Christ’s death on the cross as a substitute judgment for his or her sins; that a new life has begun in Christ.
